For eight years, Monica has been involved with the SXSW Music Festival production department. Currently, she is an assistant production manager for the music festival, overseeing advancing between artists, venue staff and festival staff for a region of downtown Austin venues, facilitating scheduling, backline needs, security needs and more. Previously, she was an independent contractor leading a crew of volunteer audio engineering students that assist with the PA load ins and load outs for all contracted venues and are placed with engineers in internship settings during the festival, working closely with contracted audio companies to facilitate an experience beneficial to both students and engineers.

For four years, Monica Skinner worked closely with Malcolm Harper of Reelsound Recording, as 2nd engineer for the broadcast live recording of the main stage performances. Notable performances that Monica has assisted in recording include Sir Paul McCartney (nominated for a TEC award), Metallica, Lana del Rey, Beck, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

In 2018, Monica worked closely with the Production and Logistics departments through 212 Music Group, assisting in many ways including PA load ins & outs, venue representative correspondence, and monitoring pedestrian fencing and rider deliveries.
Currently, Monica is the Seafront Labor Coordinator and Logistics Assistant, overseeing and scheduling PA load ins and load outs, corresponding with venue representatives, facilitating crew, contractor and venue communications, and assisting in all logistics operations involving riders, delivery management and distribution of branded promotional materials and decals.

Monica assisted Ritual Events, the production company behind Desert Daze in many ways. Before the festival, Monica recruits, organizes and leads a promotional street team with locations, roles and schedules outlined to best distribute Desert Daze's promotional materials. On show days, Monica is a production runner, assisting in deliveries on the festival grounds.
